My Server was recently upgraded to PHP 7.2 (I can't change that). I also don't have command line access to it. Since this update was made, I can no longer connect to MySQL through PHP. I am using modified sample code from w3schools:

if ($result->num_rows > 0)

 while($row = $result->fetch_assoc())

When running queries with this code I get the following error:

Connection failed: Authentication plugin 'mysql_clear_password' cannot
be loaded: plugin not enabled

Since I don't have control over MySQL plugins either, my only option is to connect to MySQL using a non-clear password (I guess?).

However I could not find anything that matches this requirement.
How can I connect using some type of encrypted password?
