I have simple sync task, that I use for file syncing to another directory. I want to make sure that file exists every time task executes and stop execution if it doesn't.

My current code is as below. The problem is task will skip whenever sources are missing, and doFirst will not execute.

task syncFile(type: Sync) 
 includeEmptyDirs = false
 outputs.upToDateWhen false 

 doFirst 
 assert file(filePath).exists() : "File missing"
 

 from "here/something.java"
 into "there/"

I have simple sync task, that I use for file syncing to another directory. I want to make sure that file exists every time task executes and stop execution if it doesn't.

My current code is as below. The problem is task will skip whenever sources are missing, and doFirst will not execute.

task syncFile(type: Sync) 
 includeEmptyDirs = false
 outputs.upToDateWhen false 

 doFirst 
 assert file(filePath).exists() : "File missing"
 

 from "here/something.java"
 into "there/"
