Question.
Let's say you work for search engine company and you would like to see TOP 50 of most-searched keywords of yesterday. If access logs are distributed over thousands of server, what would be the best way to achieve your goal?
1) Redis shows the great performance in this case. Creating a program that checks searched counts by search keyword, let it read all distributed logs, and find the top 50 by using Redis command would be the way.
2) RDS is the best in this case. Create a program that checks searched counts by search keyword and find top 50 by SQL command.
3) Search Engine(ElsaticSearch, Solr) has internal process that saves searched counts of each keyword. Using that index would be the way.
4) MapReduce is the best in this case. Distribute process by MapReduce and aggregating the result would be the way.
-End-
I am relatively new to dev world. It was a questionnaire from company where I applied and it makes me wonder which is the best. The application process is already finished so I am not taking advantage of it but just wonder what would be the best way and what field I should study to figure out answer of this kinds of questions easily. Hopefully it is also a positive challenge for you.
Thanks.
