I am using apache httpclient version 4.5.6
I see that there is no readtimeout now, instead there is socket timeout which I have hard time understanding as to how it works.

Based on the documentation, I understand that the socket timeout value would mean how much time the client would wait between two data packets.

So if server divides its response payload in to 5 packets and it took more than socket timeout value between packet 3 and 4 then, is it going to revert everything sent previously to the client?

I am not sure if I am understanding it correctly. Is there no real alternative of read timeout now ?

Can someone please help me understand this?
